Illusions and Cloaks for Surface Waves
Ever since the inception of Transformation Optics (TO), new and exciting ideas have been proposed in the field of electromagnetics and the theory has been modified to work in such fields as acoustics and thermodynamics. The most well-known application of this theory is to cloaking, but another equally intriguing application of TO is the idea of an illusion device. Here, we propose a general met...
متن کاملIsotropic nonmagnetic flat cloaks degenerated from homogeneous anisotropic trapeziform cloaks.
We propose a novel kind of trapeziform cloak requiring only homogeneous anisotropic materials. Large-scale flat cloaks can be degenerated from the general trapeziform cloak with PEC inner boundary, and be realized by isotropic nonmagnetic materials for optical frequencies with controlled index profiles and improved invisibility. With the support of PEC inner boundary, large vehicles and objects...
متن کاملRemote acoustic cloaks
Due to the correspondence of the acoustic equations to Maxwell’s equations of one polarization in two dimensions, we exploit theoretically the acoustic counterpart of the recently proposed remote invisibility cloak. The cloak consists of a circular cylindrical core with designed bulk moduli, and an “anti-object” embedded inside a shell with anisotropic mass densities. The material parameters of...
متن کاملDegenerate four-wave interferences and perfect blaze
We present a simple model for understanding the perfect blaze for diffraction with echelle gratings. Littrow diffraction at grating profiles with rectangular apexangles implicates two pairs of counterpropagating light waves. The four waves show a rectangular pattern of interference fringes. Integer numbers of such fringes along both facets of a groove ensure perfect blazing with echelle gratings.
